The Unholy is a supernatural horror story centered around faith, miracles, and the potential dangers of blind belief. The story follows Alice, a young deaf-mute girl who experiences what seems to be a miraculous event: after reportedly receiving a vision of the Virgin Mary, she suddenly gains the ability to hear and speak. Soon after, Alice begins performing other "miracles," like healing the sick, and her small town is swept up in a fervor over her divine gifts.
Gerry Fenn, a disgraced journalist trying to revive his career, becomes interested in Alice's story and investigates. Initially, he sees Alice's miracles as a way to regain his credibility and pursues her story with skepticism. However, he quickly uncovers dark undercurrents. The more miracles Alice performs, the more unsettling events occur in the town, from disturbing visions to unexplained deaths.
As Gerry digs deeper, he begins to suspect that Alice's visions aren’t coming from the Virgin Mary but from something far darker, perhaps even demonic in nature. The entity manipulating Alice preys on people’s blind faith, feeding on their devotion and punishing their doubt.
The story builds toward a chilling confrontation between Gerry, Alice, and the evil spirit behind her powers. Ultimately, The Unholy explores the line between faith and fanaticism, posing the unsettling question: how well can we distinguish true miracles from the manipulations of darkness?
